As the continuation of the MultiAPPRO project, the European Commission has approved the MultiAPPRO PLUS project, which between January and June 2022 will promote freight transport logistics, strive to make intermodal transportation more competitive and put maritime freight transport on equal footing with other transport modes, as well as continue the creation of frameworks that incentivise investments for the modernization of ports in the Adriatic-Ionian region and continue reviewing the progress made in the development of sustainable mobility as previously proposed by the European Commission.
The project’s main goal is to promote the project outcomes and results at the National, European and Macro-regional level, as well as promoting the relevance and use of the application developed within the project’s pilot activity. The project will continue developing and promoting intermodal transport in the Adriatic-Ionian region amidst new challenges.
During the past two years, a global health crisis has arisen, in the form of the COVID-19 pandemic, causing issues in the transport and logistic sector with huge consequences. Previously, within the MultiAPPRO project, the Intermodal Transport Network, an expert body at the international level with the purpose of supporting the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable intermodal transport in the region, has been established. Now, with the COVID-19 crisis as the main obstacle, partners will once again collaborate with the ITN to find solutions and overcome the obstacles that have been caused by COVID-19.
