MultiAPPRO 5th Project Meeting

The MultiAPPRO partnership were met on 28 October 2019 for their 5th Coordination and SC meeting in Treviso, Italy. The host of the meeting was the Codognotto Holding. The coordinator of the project presented the progress of the project and the partnership discussed any project issues and defined the future goals and steps for the project. GATES participated actively as an external consultant in MultiAPPRO.

9th International Congress on Transportation Research (ICTR)

GATES attended the 9th International Congress on Transportation Research (ICTR), which took place in Athens in 24-25/10/2019 and has been co-organised by The Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers (HITE) and the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT/CERTH). The spotlight theme of the 2019 Congress is: ‘Transportation 4.0: The Smart Evolution’.

SUPAIR 4th Project Meeting

SUPAIR partnership were met on 19 June 2019 for their 4th Coordination and SC meeting in Durres, Albania. The host of the meeting was Durres Port Authority. The coordinator of the project summarized the state of the art of the project and then the partnership assessed the progress of the ports’ Action Plans which will be finalized by the end of October, 2019. At the end, the meeting focused on the future goals and steps for the project. GATES supported the participation of the Port of Piraeus in the meeting as its external consultant for the project SUPAIR.

Intermodal Transport Network (ITN) – 3rd Meeting

Intermodal Transport Network is envisaged as a representative body of all included states in MultiAPPRO project, whose interest is to investigate the causes of poor intermodal transport in the region, and propose measures and activities for its improvement. Intermodal Transport Network operates as a transnational network by fostering development of environment-friendly and sustainable intermodal transport in the region.

Adriatic Ionian intermodal and logistic Network ( short: ADRILON) is a stable cooperation framework developed inside NEWBRAIN partnership, built on existing cooperation activities between the partners in the context of the EU TEN-T policy, EU cooperation and financing programmes . The Network is composed of project partners, whose multilevel cooperation on cross-cutting issues (e.g. intermodality, logistics, environment, policy issues, financial mechanisms) ensures a transnational approach and this  network supports the joint and efficient planning of low carbon and environmental friendly transport and logistics investments of the involved Adriatic Ionian core logistics nodes system to enhance its relevance for the EUSAIR and Eu transport.

Topics of this joint meeting were:

  • Investment and funding schemes for the sector of transport
  • Assessment of different investment and funding schemes for the sector of transport and potential recommendations

Intermodal Transport Network (ITN) – 2nd Meeting

The Intermodal Transport Network (ITN), a body of experts developed within MutliAPPRO project, met on 14 June 2019 in the premises of the Piraeus Port Authority. The 2nd meeting of ITN focused on the environmental dimension of Short Sea Shipping and intermodal transport. An overview of environmental and energy management, footprint, Blue Energy, Alternative Fuels and Green Technology in Transport Sector was presented while each participant expressed his own experience. Additionally, there was extensive discussion about current needs and bottlenecks on this thematic field and potential solutions were assessed. GATES, as external consultant in MultiAPPRO and active member in European projects, has the role of moderator in all ITN meetings.

The MultiAPPRO partnership were met on 13 June 2019 for their 4th Coordination and SC meeting in Piraeus, Greece. The host of the meeting was the Port Authority of Piraeus. The coordinator of the project presented the progress of the project and the partnership discussed any project issues and defined the future goals and steps for the project. GATES participated actively as an external consultant in MultiAPPRO.

MultiAPPRO Interim Event

In Athens on 9 May 2019, Interim event of MultiAPPRO project were held during the 1st International Conference – Design and Management of Port, Coastal and Offshore Works – DMPCO 2019 – ideas of the future (Eugenides Foundation, Athens GREECE 8-11 May 2019). Conference was divided in 10 thematic areas with special session called “The Adriatic-Ionian strategy and port infrastructure” where MultiAPPRO project was presented with general overview of current activities and with focus on innovation and modernization of port infrastructure, reduction of bottlenecks, economic efficiency and environmental sustainability. The MultiAPPRO session presented the main findings of the ADRION project MULTIAPPRO, addressing key parameters that affect the development of port infrastructure as main nodes of intermodal transport corridors, as well as decision-making processes identifying elements for efficient port investments. The speakers presented current ongoing and planned actions on a regional and national level, focusing on innovation and modernization of port infrastructure, reduction of bottlenecks and constraints, economic efficiency and environmental sustainability. GATES, as external consultant in MultiAPPRO, participated actively and supported MultiAPPRO partnership in project’s interim event.

4th EUSAIR Annual Forum

GATES attended the 4th EUSAIR Forum which was held on 7-8 May 2019 in Budva, Montenegro under the slogan “Integration for the people, development for the region”. The Event presented the progress and achievements of the EUSAIR macro-regional Strategy and promoted the strengthening of the network and partnerships within the Adriatic and Ionian Region. Ministers from the eight EUSAIR Countries, EU Commissioners, representatives from other EU institutions, Regional and local governors and key implementers of the Strategy were among the speakers joining the Forum. GATES Ltd participates actively in the EUSAIR Strategy and is active partner in ADRION Projects.

MultiAPPRO 3rd Project Meeting

The MultiAPPRO partnership were met on 10 and 11 December 2018 for their 3rd Coordination and SC meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The host of the meeting was Ministry of infrastructure of Slovenia. The meeting was divided into two sections. The first section took place on 10 December among the partners who presented the process of the meeting, discussed any project issues and defined the future goals and steps for the project.  The second section took place on 11 December and host the first meeting of the Intermodal Transport Network (ITN), a body of experts developed within MultiAppro and its main goal is to achieve a common and coordinated approach for the solution of existing lacks, as well as in the planning and development of intermodal transport system at a regional level as a whole for the collection and solution of bottlenecks. GATES, as external consultant in MultiAPPRO, participated actively in both sections.

 

 

 

 

 

“Existing Status and Development Perspectives in Logistics and Freight…

Piraeus Chamber of Small and Medium Sized Industries (BEP) organised the event within the framework of the ADRION Interreg project “NEWBRAIN – Nodes Enhancing Waterway bridging Adriatic-Ionian Network” at Elefsina on 3 December 2018. The goal of the meeting was to highlight the current situation in the field of combined transport as well as to present current and future  practices and trends at national and international level in combined transport and prospects creating clusters. GATES, as external consultant in NEWBRAIN, participated actively in the organisation of the event.
