“Existing Status and Development Perspectives in Logistics and Freight…

Piraeus Chamber of Small and Medium Sized Industries (BEP) organised the event within the framework of the ADRION Interreg project “NEWBRAIN – Nodes Enhancing Waterway bridging Adriatic-Ionian Network” at Elefsina on 3 December 2018. The goal of the meeting was to highlight the current situation in the field of combined transport as well as to present current and future  practices and trends at national and international level in combined transport and prospects creating clusters. GATES, as external consultant in NEWBRAIN, participated actively in the organisation of the event.

SUPAIR 3rd Project Meeting

SUPAIR partnership were met on 4 December 2018 for their 3rd Coordination and SC meeting in Koper, Croatia. The host of the meeting was Port of Koper. The main topic of the meeting was the assessment of port’s Action Plans progress, which are the main output of the project. Additionally, the meeting focused on the future goals and steps for the project. GATES supported the participation of the Port of Piraeus in the meeting as its external consultant for the project SUPAIR.

“Collaboration of Freight Centers – Ports, European Experience Challenges”…

The Hellenic Chambers of Transport Association (EESYM) jointly with the General Secretariat of Ports, Port Policy and Maritime Investments of Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy, the Europlatfroms and the Hellenic Ports Association (ELIME) organised the event “Collaboration of Freight Centers – Ports, European Experience Challenges” in the premises of Piraeus Port Authority S.A. on 30 October 2018. GATES was invited to participate as an expert about the development of freight centers.

MultiAPPRO 2nd Project Meeting

The MultiAPPRO project partnership gathered in Bar, Montenegro for their 2nd Coordination and SC Meeting on 25 September 2018. Representatives from Intermodal Transport Cluster (Lead Partner – CRO), National Technical University in Athens (GR), Piraeus Port Authority (GR), Port of Ploče (CRO), Ministry of infrastructure (SLO), Institute of Transport (ALB), Codognotto Holding (ITA) and Port of Bar (MNE) attended the meeting. Partners presented the results of the first reporting period and discussed the process of the project while they analysed their future goals and steps for the project.

ADRIETA Multimodal Transport Corridor

The “ADRIETA – The Sea of synergies, the land of multimodality” conference was held at Igoumenitsa, on 22 June, 2017, organized by Igoumenitsa Port Authority, under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy and the Greek Ministry of Transport. The ADRIETA initiative aims at facilitating and enhancing cooperation towards the development of an intermodal transport corridor connecting the Adriatic/Ionian macro-region with the Black Sea. The main objective of the initiative is the development of a common Action Plan creating new synergies and a new dynamic and favorable cooperation framework for Ports and Logistics. The participants of the event, representing governmental bodies, public and private entities, ports and transport operators ensured the vivid discussion and global analysis and supported the future of the corridor.

2nd SUPAIR Project Meeting

In the framework of the SUPAIR project, the second project meeting among the partners was held on June 12-13, 2018 by Port Authority of Piraeus (PPA SA) at its premises. The project meeting was divided into two sections. The first section took place on June 12 and concerned the Internal Capacity Building Workshop on SUPAIR “Guidelines for Sustainable and Low-carbon Ports”, while the second section took place on June 13 and focused on project management issues and the forthcoming steps and actions of the project.

GATES and WECAN Cluster attended the Balkans & Black Sea Cooperation Forum, which took place in Athens in 30/5 – 1/6/2018. Balkans & Black Sea Cooperation Forum is an independent, nonprofit, nongovernmental economic conference, striving for economic cooperation, business relations and sustainable growth across South & Central East Europe and beyond.

3rd EUSAIR Annual Forum

The 3rd EUSAIR Forum, organised by the Italian Republic in close cooperation with the European Commission and with the support of the EUSAIR Facility Point, was held in Catania (Italy) on 24-25 May 2018. The Event presented the progress and achievements of the EUSAIR macro-regional Strategy and promoted the strengthening of the network and partnerships within the Adriatic and Ionian Region. Ministers from the eight EUSAIR Countries, EU Commissioners, representatives from other EU institutions, Regional and local governors and key implementers of the Strategy were among the speakers joining the Forum. GATES Ltd participates actively in the EUSAIR Strategy and is active partner in ADRION Projects.

TEN-T Days 2018, 25-27 April, Ljubljana

The 9th edition of the TEN-T Days took place in Ljubljana in 25-27 April 2018. European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc invited Ministers, Members of the European Parliament and key stakeholders to Ljubljana to discuss how to contribute to smart, sustainable and safe Mobility, relying on the trans-European transport network and investments in transport connectivity. GATES participated as part of the team implementing the ADRI-UP CEF project, promoting the positive cross-border cooperation dimension and the development of sustainable and intermodal transport connections based on the Motorways of the Sea links in the Adriatic-Ionian Region. The project was presented through a stand visited by the EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc and a number of high-level participants.

WECAN at SITL Exhibition

SITL is the only event that brings together all areas of transport and logistics, decompartmentalising them for an end-to-end multimodal viewpoint. The SITL Exhibition was held in Paris on 20-23 March at NORD VILLEPINTE – HALL 6. All transport and logistics sub-sectors were represented, via various stands, conference sessions and thematic business meetings. The presence of women professionals covering various positions and representing a large number of companies of the field was impressive and very encouraging!
